Local History Museum named after Captain-Commander A.I. Chirikov
About museum
The history of the museum dates back to the creation of a room of military and labor glory in the village of Luzhnoye (1987). In one of the rooms of the village House of Culture materials were placed, among which were copies of the reports of the packet boat "Saint Paul"'s captain Aleksei Chirikov. He was the first, as part of the expedition led by Vitus Bering, to discover and describe the lands of the northwestern coast of North America (Alaska). The museum was officially opened in December 2003 to mark the 300th anniversary of Aleksei Chirikov.

\r\nIn the two "maritime" halls of the museum, materials are presented not only about the participants of the Great Northern Expedition itself, but also about those places that were named after the great explorers. The museum hosts meetings with descendants of the Chirikov family and celebrates all significant dates related to the Kamchatka expeditions.
