The city local history museum was established in December 2000 on the basis of the collections of the Veterans' Council museum room and the funds transferred to the museum by the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant named after I. V. Kurchatov. The museum offers a wide range of tours and cultural and educational services. The exhibition 'Man Came to the Urals' is dedicated to archaeology, Old Believer settlements, the construction of Cossack forts, and the times of Yemelyan Pugachev. The exhibition 'From the Lesnoy Settlement to the City of Nuclear Workers Zarechny' is devoted to the development of Russia's energy sector, prominent nuclear scientists, the construction of the first industrial nuclear giant, and the birth of the city of nuclear workers. In the exhibition 'Fellow Zarechny Residents Defending the Motherland', nearly 700 veterans of the Great Patriotic War are represented in the nationwide construction effort. The museum hosts classes as part of a local history program, master classes, interactive sessions, lectures, and off-site excursions. Visitors are invited to learn about the history of Russia, local history, and the natural wealth of their native region.
