Yurga Local History Museum

The City Local History Museum was opened on November 26, 1964 at the initiative of local history enthusiasts: teachers, photographers, artists, journalists. More than 30,000 people visit the museum annually for exhibitions and tours. The museum holds exhibitions dedicated to significant dates and events: "Serving the Fatherland", "Star Squad", "Zvezda Polyn", "Both the Home Front and the Front. Yurga and Yurga residents during the Great Patriotic War", "Origins of Russian Culture", "Echoes of Centuries", "Not Without Reason All Russia Remembers", "Soldiers of Undeclared Wars" and others. Exhibitions that attract particular attention and interest include: "She Embroidered Wondrous Patterns on Fabric", "Yurga. Pages of History", "An Old Gramophone Reminded Me...", "One Hundred Years of the Yurga Proving Ground". The museum introduces Yurga residents not only to Russian folk culture but also to the fate and culture of other peoples living in the city. For children the museum offers a museum education program in which material on all museum topics is presented in an accessible form with elements of dramatization.
