Local history complex "Permafrost Museum"

The Permafrost Museum was founded in 1991 and is part of the local history complex. The museum's collection totals 12,000 items, of which 8,500 are primary holdings. In addition, the museum consists of several departments. The above-ground section acquaints visitors with the features of the forest-tundra and permafrost, while the underground section displays permafrost in its natural state. The museum also features an exhibition dedicated to the construction of the Stalin-era railway, as well as works by artists from Igarka, Krasnoyarsk and Moscow. The museum displays authentic everyday items of prisoners and documents that tell the fates of people who ended up in the GULAG.
