The Stable Courtyard
About museum
The Stable Courtyard, a late 17th-century architectural monument located next to the Rostov Kremlin, was returned to use after an extensive restoration carried out from 2013 to 2019. During reconstructions in the 18th and 19th centuries its original appearance was significantly altered, and the building was subsequently used as barracks, warehouses and market rows. In the 20th century this unique architectural complex, the only surviving monument from the 17th century, was on the brink of ruin. It was only thanks to the Rostov Kremlin museum that the decision was made to restore the courtyard. It is a quadrangle open to the north, combining features of different eras. Exhibition activities in the Stable Courtyard began on November 30, 2021.
