About museum
On December 25, 1972, the Karagay Local History Museum was opened in honor of the 50th anniversary of the USSR. In 1994, at the suggestion of the Department of Culture of the Administration of Perm Oblast, the museum was awarded the title 'People's'. Currently the museum has collected more than 20,000 exhibits thanks to annual ethnographic and archaeological expeditions, as well as support from public organizations and institutions of Karagay and local residents. The museum has four permanent exhibitions: the animal hall, the archaeology hall 'Rozhdestvenskoye Settlement' with a collection of more than 1,500 items, and the exhibition 'The Russian Village: Everyday Life and Customs' with unique household items and crafts of the indigenous peoples of the Prikamye region. In 2005 the nature center 'Filin' was established. The museum receives support from the Ministry of Culture of Perm Krai and the administration of the Karagay Municipal District for the implementation of various projects.
