Historical and Local Lore Museum of the Defense of Tuapse
About museum
\r\nThe Tuapse Museum of Defense was opened on June 14, 1999, based on the idea of historian, journalist and local historian Eduard Iosifovich Pyatigorsky. The design and all constructions were created by Tuapse artists: Alexander Shabalov, Olga Mutskaya, Oleg Sidorov and Vladimir Karpechenkov. The museum displays valuable documents, books, photographs, as well as weapons of the Soviet and German armies found at battle sites in the Tuapse district — submachine guns, rifles, cartridges, mines, grenades and aircraft fragments. In total, the exhibition features more than 2,000 items. The main theme of the museum is the Tuapse defensive operation, i.e. the events that preceded the turning point of the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
