Maysky District Local History Museum
About museum
On May 8, 1975, the Museum of Military and Labor Glory was opened in Maysky District; it was renamed the local history museum in 2010 after major renovations to the building and expansion of exhibition space. The museum presents the history of the district and its role in the country's history: the Georgian Military Road, traveled by famous writers and Decembrists, as well as materials on the history of the Terek Cossacks, hometown participants in various wars, leading production workers and honorary citizens of the town. The museum building was constructed at the beginning of the 20th century by the first settlers near the railway station. Main tours include: 'Archaeological Finds', 'History of the Terek Cossacks', 'History of the Development of Maysky District', 'District Residents — Participants of the Great Patriotic War'.
