Kartaly District Local History Museum
About museum
On July 5, 1996, the head of the Kartaly city administration made the decision to establish a local history museum in the city of Kartaly. The museum began its existence in a consumer services complex. On July 30, 1999, the museum opened its doors to visitors in a new building. Today the museum has 12 permanent exhibitions featuring a collection of more than 100 minerals and mineral resources, as well as an ethnographic collection that conveys the everyday life and culture of the district's peoples from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The military hall reflects the heroic deeds and life of Kartaly residents during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The museum's holdings consist of 7,534 items, which are displayed periodically. Museum staff organize video screenings, master classes, contests, quizzes, educational games, meetings, and develop projects. One of the museum's areas of activity is organizing museum education programs, as well as providing consultations and holding meetings to discuss issues related to the museum's work.
