\r\nThe Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution 'Historical and Local Lore Museum of Protvino' was established in 1997 at the initiative of the city's Honorary Citizen Nikolai Nikitovich Bochko. It was created to preserve the material and spiritual culture associated with the history of the city and the region. The core of the archive consisted of materials provided to the museum by N. N. Bochko. Teachers from two schools and two honored cultural workers of the city participated in the creation of the exhibitions. In 2000 the museum was opened to guests and residents of the city. In 2016 the museum was merged into MAUK 'DK "Proton"' and became a structural subdivision. Schoolchildren are the museum's most frequent visitors. It conducts research and fieldwork, cooperates with enterprises, institutions and city residents, bringing generations together and preserving the city's best traditions.
