About museum
The Myasnikovsky District Historical and Ethnographic Museum is located in the center of Chaltyr, opposite the Surb Ambarcum Church. It is a structural unit of the Myasnikovsky District House of Culture. The museum presents the history of the resettlement of Armenians from Crimea by order of Catherine II and the founding of Nor Nakhichevan and five Armenian villages. Exhibits are dedicated to the ethnography of the Ani branch of Armenians, and to the history and culture of the Myasnikovsky District. The museum displays antique household items, examples of decorative and applied arts, agricultural implements, and paintings by local artists. The museum was opened on April 24, 1992, at the initiative of local historians. On the grounds in front of the museum building stands a traditional Armenian courtyard oven where folk festivals are held.
