Historical and Ethnographic Museum "Cholkoy"
About museum
On December 27, 1999, the Bekovsky Historical and Ethnographic Museum "Cholkoy" was opened. The initiative for its creation came from Vladimir Ilyich Chelukhoev, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. He and his team of like-minded people continue to actively and successfully develop the museum. The museum grounds feature open-air exhibits that allow visitors to enjoy the history, culture, everyday life, traditions and rituals of the numerically small indigenous people of Kuzbass — the Teleuts. The museum houses a rich ethnographic collection, including the Teleut national costume, household utensils, furniture items and jewelry, as well as paleontological, archaeological and numismatic collections. Today the museum is engaged not only in preserving the material but also the spiritual culture of the Teleuts: their language, folklore, traditions and rituals.
