Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve "Scythian Neapolis"
About museum
In 2011, at the initiative of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the "Scythian Neapolis" museum-reserve was established. On the exhibition grounds visitors can visit an improved tourist area located on the site of the Southern Palace of Scythian Neapolis. It was the largest barbarian fortress in the Northern Black Sea region from the 2nd century BC to the 3rd century AD and is mentioned in ancient epigraphic sources. In addition, the history of archaeological research at the settlement dates back to 1827, when A. I. Sultan-Krym-Girey Kata Girey noticed on a cart a limestone slab with a relief depicting a horseman, and a limestone and two marble pedestals with Greek inscriptions.
