Irkutsk Planetarium and Museum "Noosphere"
About museum
The Irkutsk Planetarium was founded in 1950 and until 1986 was located in the building of the Trinity Church. In 2015, thanks to the Metropol group of companies and its founder Mikhail Viktorovich Slipenchuk, the planetarium was restored in a new building with the acquisition of specialized equipment. At present, Irkutsk has a museum-planetarium complex that includes the planetarium, the Mikhail Shchadov Multimedia Museum "Noosphere", and an observatory. The purpose of this complex is to introduce people to the Universe. In the planetarium's star hall, popular science films, lectures, and concerts are held, as well as guided tours of the starry sky. Observations of celestial objects are conducted both in the city and beyond its limits. The Irkutsk Planetarium also conducts off-site deep-space observation sessions for the public. Thus, the planetarium provides a unique opportunity to see the Universe with one's own eyes.
