On July 8, 1996, the Art Museum of the Bakhchisaray Historical, Cultural and Archaeological Museum-Reserve was opened. Its collection included works by renowned masters of the 18th–19th centuries, as well as collections from museums in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kyiv, Simferopol, Sevastopol and Alupka. More than 200 works by contemporary artists were donated to the museum, along with works by masters such as B. V. Smirnov, P. A. Shillingovsky, K. F. Bogaevsky, A. P. Mogilevsky, V. K. Yanovsky, Ya. A. Basov and others. Currently the Art Museum holds over 2,000 exhibits. The exhibition is displayed in the halls of the former keeper's house of the Khan's Palace, built to a design by the architect Kolodin. It allows visitors to enjoy works of art from the 18th to the early 21st century. In addition, temporary exhibitions and projects are held at the museum.
