Governor's House
About museum
The Governor's House in the historic center of Penza was built in the 1790s and from 1801 to 1917 served as the residence of the governors of the Penza Governorate. In 1997 the building was converted into the V. E. Tatlin Children's Art School, and in 2007–2010 it underwent restoration with an allocation of 100 million rubles. Currently the building houses the Penza Regional Art Gallery named after K. A. Savitsky (2nd building). On May 18, 2011 the house was opened to visitors. A monument to K. A. Savitsky has been installed in the courtyard. Exhibitions from the gallery's collections are held here, presenting the history of the city of Penza and its governors. The cultural heritage site has been designated as being of federal significance.
