François Boucher. "The Startled Bather", 1736

"The Startled Bather" is a painting by the French artist François Boucher (1703–1770), painted in oil on canvas in 1736.

Prince Nikolai Borisovich Yusupov became the only owner in Russia of eight canvases by Boucher, and in the museum's assessment these were the artist's finest works in the country. In 2021 "The Startled Bather" was shown at the exhibition "The French Taste of the Yusupov Princes", organised by the New Jerusalem Museum together with Arkhangelskoye.
