The State Museum of Palekh Art is one of Russia's leading museums. It carries out active cultural activities, organizes exhibitions, and also draws attention to the study and teaching of Palekh art. The State Museum of Palekh Art was founded on May 8, 1934 and was called the 'Museum of Ancient Painting'. In November of the same year the name was changed and the museum received the name State Museum of Palekh Art. On March 13, 1935 the museum was opened to visitors and this date is still considered the museum's birthday. Today the museum has about 14,000 exhibits, as well as 6 departments, including the Museum of Lacquer Miniature, the P. D. Korin House-Museum, the N. V. Dydykin Museum-Workshop, the I. I. Golikov House-Museum, the N. M. Zinoviev House-Museum, and an exhibition and display center. The museum carries out active cultural activities, organizes exhibitions and attracts attention to the study and teaching of Palekh art. It is one of Russia's leading museums.
