A sword of the Japanese "singuto" type

The sword belongs to the Japanese "singuto" type. He has a long, slightly curved and pointed blade with a single-sided sharpening. The handle is covered with metal plates imitating the skin of a stingray — it peeks through the diamond-shaped slots of the leather winding. At the heel of the blade is a curly yellowish tsuba with a relief floral pattern. There is a ring at the end of the handle. Due to the rough forging, simplified design and ornaments on the tsuba, reminiscent of the traditional patterns of Thailand or Myanmar, it can be assumed that the sword was created by gunsmiths of one of these countries during the Japanese occupation or shortly after it.
