A Mandau sword in a sheath with a utility knife.
The Mandau sword with a sheath and a folding knife dates back to the middle of the 20th century and originates from the island of Kalimantan (Borneo) in Indonesia. The sword has a single-edged blade that expands towards the tip. The butt has notches and patterns in the form of semi—ovals, circles and spiral curls, as well as five-pointed stars and circles made with notches in non-ferrous metals. The black wooden handle is decorated with carvings with floral ornaments and ends with the head of a fantastic creature aso (dragon-dog), crowned with two plumes of black hair. The wooden scabbard is painted brown and decorated with carvings of two dragon-like creatures. Attached to them is a case for a piso raut knife with a cylindrical handle and a small blade that expands to a beveled tip.
