Pavel Kuznetsov. View of a Mountain Stream
This 1923 colour lithograph by Pavel Kuznetsov (1878–1968) is one of the artist's Eastern motifs. Journeys to the Trans-Volga region and Central Asia in 1911–1913 gave him what has been called "the rhythm and poetics of the East", and his "Kirghiz Suite" and "Bukhara Series" became the high point of his work.
In 1923 Kuznetsov issued the lithograph series "Turkestan" and "Mountain Bukhara". This sheet from the same year shows a mountain landscape from above: on the left a narrow river flows, on the right are stylised trees and a man riding a donkey along a path.
The sheet is kept in a blue, green and brown palette.
