Icon. "Candlemas."
The Candlemas icon, presumably dating from the 19th century, is made in the academic style. It depicts the moment when the elder Simeon receives a Baby from the Mother of God. To the right of the Virgin is James with two pigeons in a basket, followed by the prophetess Anna. The characters are dressed in bright, carefully drawn clothes. Simeon wears a brown tunic and a burgundy himalaya with gold trim, while the Mother of God wears a green chiton and a red maforia. The temple on the icon is represented by a porch and a curtain, behind which a throne with a green cloth and tablets is visible. The background of the icon is green, the fields are ocher. The basis of the icon is an icon shield made of five boards with two through dowels, the technique of execution includes pavoloka, levkas and tempera.
