Coloured etching. «The Slaughter»
The coloured etching «The Slaughter» by Alexander Ivanovich Morozov was created in 1985 in Petrozavodsk. The painting depicts a scene of butchering a pig carcass in a utility room. The plot is shifted to the right; on the right are two men in aprons and boots: one is leaning on a carcass with a knife in his hand, the other is working on it with a burner; one of the men has a cigarette in his hand. In the foreground is a severed pig's head, and on the left side of the composition, a teenager peeks out from behind a striped homespun rug. In the background is a woman with a basin, and in the doorway you can see a bright winter landscape contrasting with the main scene with village houses and a leaning chapel.
