Postcard. «Alkonost Bird of Paradise»
The postcard «Alkonost Bird of Paradise» was created in 1906 by Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin. The obverse depicts a mythical creature with the body of a bird, the head and arms of a woman. Alkonost is crowned with a crown and a halo, holding a scroll in the left hand and a flowering branch in the right. There are texts around the image, including a quote praising God and mentioning the flowers of paradise. On the reverse side there is the logo of the Community of St. Eugene, inscriptions indicating the places for writing, addresses and stamps, as well as the name of the publishing house «T—vo Golike and Vilborg». The postcard was made by chromolithography on thick paper in St. Petersburg.
