Kliment Voroshilov's Carbine with a Presentation Inscription

This Mosin-system magazine carbine, linked in the catalogue to the name of Kliment Voroshilov, is a presentation weapon with special decoration. Shaped white-metal plaques are fixed to both sides of the butt: the right one shows a Red Army soldier against the Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower and bears an engraved presentation inscription, while the left one, in the form of a flag, carries the coat of arms of the USSR.

The carbine was made in Izhevsk in 1941. It is based on the three-line rifle, model 1891, of 7.62 mm calibre. The rifle was built to Sergei Mosin's design, while several details, including the shape of the charger clip, were borrowed from the Belgian designer Léon Nagant. Kliment Voroshilov (1881–1969) headed the People's Commissariat of Defence in 1934–1940 and in 1935 became one of the first Marshals of the Soviet Union.

The magazine holds 5 rounds and is loaded from a clip; the tangent sight is graduated to 1000 metres. The stock is wooden, the metal parts are blued, and the fittings are brass.
