City Museum named after V.N. Plotnikov

About museum

The history of the city museum began in 1974, when members of the "Young Tracker" club decided to establish the names of veterans who had served in the 1st Guards Division. This led to a meeting with one of them — Vasily Nikolaevich Plotnikov. Together with the children he corresponded with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, his former comrades, and collected the first exhibits that became the basis of the military exhibition. Gradually a Room of Military Glory was formed at School No. 17, and in 1984, by order of the city executive committee, a city local history museum was opened on its basis. The museum currently features four exhibitions: two permanent halls — the local history hall and the military hall — while the other two halls host temporary exhibitions that are regularly updated. The museum also holds lessons, meetings with notable people, master classes, etc. Today the museum stores more than 17,000 items in its main collection.
