About museum
The building was constructed in 1917 and is currently a regional cultural heritage monument of Russia. On October 1, 1979, a local history museum was opened, initiated by Alexander Bembeevich Baulkin and Aza Mikhailovna Nechitaylo. In April 1984 it was incorporated into the N. N. Palmov Kalmyk Republican Local History Museum, which today is the National Museum of the Republic of Kalmykia. The museum has halls with a total area of 172 sq. m. dedicated to local history, the Great Patriotic War, and the deportation of the Kalmyk people. They display documents, photographs, and household items of the residents of the Bashant encampment of the Bolshederbetovsky ulus.
