Glushkov Local History Museum
About museum
At the initiative of the district department of culture, the Glushkov Local History Museum was established in 1992; its director until 1999 was A. N. Kramarenko. The museum is located in a building that is an architectural monument of the late 19th — early 20th centuries, which previously belonged to the industrialists Tereshchenko. In 2002 the museum was awarded the title "People's" and became a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum. The museum's exhibition, located in four halls, reflects the history of the Glushkov region from the mid-17th century to the present day. Particular attention in this history is given to the activities of the Tereshchenko family of sugar factory owners, who were enterprising and talented managers. The museum's collections comprise more than 5,000 storage units, and its exhibition area is 74 sq. m. Each year the museum is visited by about 8,000 people.
