Gazimuro-Zavodsky Local History Museum named after F. N. Rezanov
About museum
On May 19, 1962 a museum was opened to visitors in the village of Gazimursky Zavod, preceded by the work of a school museum that collected materials for studying the history of the native region. In 2004 it took the name of one of its founders - F. N. Rezanov. Today the museum's total collection comprises 3,277 items, and the main (core) collection 700 units. Most acquisitions come thanks to the museum's active contacts with visitors and local residents. Among recent acquisitions the collection of commemorative and jubilee coins of the USSR is especially notable. Over the past two years the museum has acquired new exhibits: taxidermy animals, jewelry boxes, lighters, a 20th-century 'Mir' radio receiver, Kasli clocks and a photo frame. Permanent exhibitions are devoted to archaeology and paleontology, everyday life, the history of the Cossacks, the fauna of the district and region, the life of the Decembrists in Transbaikalia, the war, and numismatics. The museum hosts thematic exhibitions, theatrical performances and guided tours, as well as the 'Immortal Regiment' event. Museum staff are active on social media.
