About museum
The house-museum 'Etno-Kudo' named after V.I. Romashkin was opened on September 6, 2006. V.I. Romashkin was a prominent figure in the Moksha, Karatay, Tyuryukhan and Erzya cultural revival of the late 20th century, a folklorist, musician, documentary filmmaker, and the founder of the folk group 'Torama'.
An annual folklore festival of ancient Erzya and Moksha songs dedicated to V.I. Romashkin's birthday is held on the museum grounds. Currently the museum has collected about 4,000 exhibits. The acquisition of unique items is ongoing. People still bring antique items, and friends and colleagues of V.I. Romashkin donate letters, photographs, audio and video materials. The museum also houses many books from writers, poets, and researchers of Mordovia.
