About museum

The museum was founded in 1968 and consists of three exhibition halls, as well as an exhibition and a lecture hall. It presents the following themes: "Yelninsky District during the Great Patriotic War", "The Moscow Militia on Yelnya soil", "Occupation, Partisan Movement", "The Liberation of Yelnya during the Yelnya-Dorogobuzh Offensive Operation of 1943", "Yelnya residents in battles for the Motherland", "Yelninsky antiquities", "Yelnya in popular memory" and the photo exhibition by V. I. Arkashchev "For Our Soviet Motherland". The exhibition hall features painting, graphics and sculpture.
