Exhibition building of the museum-diorama 'The Battle of Kursk. Belgorod Direction'
About museum
In May 2020, major repairs began in the main building of the diorama museum at 2 Popova Street. For this purpose all exhibits (their total number exceeds 19,000 items) were moved and placed in a new building, which opened on June 24. It houses the exhibition 'On the Belgorod Direction', dedicated to the stages of the Battle of Kursk. It presents original photographs, documents, awards, examples of military uniforms and everyday items of soldiers, as well as weapons of the Red Army and the Wehrmacht. A special place is occupied by a sketch of the painting created by artists for approval of the diorama by the Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army in 1985. The building also hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to the Soviet people's path to Victory. Major repairs of the diorama museum will continue until mid-2021.
