Palace and park ensemble in the village of Borodino
About museum
Palace and park ensemble in the village of Borodino, established in 1839, is inextricably linked with the Battle of Borodino - the major engagement of the Patriotic War of 1812 - and with the creation of a memorial on Borodino Field. The ensemble includes the Church of the Nativity of Christ (1701), a wooden palace rebuilt from the manor house, three cavalier wings, the "dining hall", the "English garden" park, and utility buildings.
Until 1912 the palace and park ensemble in the village of Borodino, together with the Spaso-Borodinsky Monastery and the monument on Raevsky Battery, was one of the main attractions of Borodino Field. By the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, the park and the exterior appearance of the "dining hall" (collection repository), the Imperial Palace and the "confectionery wing" were completely restored. Visitors walking along the park's alleys can see the restored bust of Emperor Alexander II.
