The House of the Russian Abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn is a unique complex that includes a museum, archive, library, research, information-publishing and cultural-educational centers. The goal of their activities is to focus on and study the cultural heritage of the Russian abroad, to develop relations and strengthen ties with compatriots outside Russia.
The main exhibition of the Museum of the Russian Abroad, opened in 2019, introduces visitors to the history of Russian emigration. The House's museum collection contains more than 8,000 items, and the archive holds over 25,000 storage units. The House's library has significant historical and cultural value (more than 130,000 copies of publications, of which 80% are émigré editions).
A branch of the House is the Memorial Museum-Apartment of A. I. Solzhenitsyn, located at the historic address in Moscow: Tverskaya Street, building 12, structure 8, where A. I. Solzhenitsyn lived with his family before his expulsion from the USSR.
