House of Russia
About museum
The museum department is housed in an old merchants' mansion built at the end of the 18th century, once owned by the Elizarov brothers. It comprises 12 sections spread over two floors, each dedicated to one of the 12 regions of central Russia. The exhibition is a collage of historical, cultural, natural and other aspects of these regions connected with their notable figures. The House of Russia hosts exhibitions, cultural events and master classes, and students of Tver State University can develop their creativity there. The building also offers curator-led tours and groups that preserve and promote the traditions of the peoples of the Tver region. The House of Russia has become the residence of the fairy-tale Novotorzhsk 'skorokhod' boots.
