V.I. Lenin House-Museum, Kazan
About museum
On November 7, 1937, the V.I. Lenin House-Museum, the oldest museum in our region, was opened in the wing of the Orlovs' house, which was built in the 1870s. This building has high cultural and historical value, as it is a monument of wooden architecture and construction art of the second half of the 19th century that has survived the centuries and reached us in its original form. It is surrounded by a small cozy garden with rare plant species. The idea of opening a museum in Kazan appeared as early as the 1920s, and active formation began in the mid-1930s. It was created with the participation of members of the Ulyanov family, as well as the political figure S. S. Gafurov and the museum's first director G. I. Respublikant. The house where the Ulyanov family lived became memorial and has been preserved in its original form, since Vladimir Ilyich spent several months here in 1888–1889. The museum leaders Kh. M. Saifutdinova and K. G. Validova made a significant contribution to its establishment and development.
