Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov House-Museum
About museum
The M.A. Ulyanov House-Museum was established in a five-walled izba where the Ulyanov family lived in the 1930s–1940s. With funds collected over several years by the fellow townspeople of the famous actor, the house was purchased from its last owners and restored. The museum's opening was timed to coincide with the 420th anniversary celebration of Tara.
Two small bright rooms, carved window trims, a lilac bush and a bird cherry tree by the house — it was here that, in his own recollections, Mikhail Alexandrovich was happier than anywhere else.
According to the curators' concept, one room of the museum displays items related to Ulyanov's artistic work: photos, documents, film props, and even the Zhukov uniform in which the actor performed at the Vakhtangov Theatre.
The other room recreates the atmosphere of Mikhail Alexandrovich's childhood. However, none of the original family belongings have been preserved — other people had lived here for a long time.
The house-museum hosts monthly chamber performances by the Northern Drama Theatre named after M.A. Ulyanov, as well as individual and group tours.
