About museum
In the history of the development of Udmurt literature and culture, an outstanding place belongs to Kuzebay Gerd (1998–1937), known in the 1920s as a poet, prose writer, playwright, musicologist, translator, and public figure. Since 2001 the Kuzebay Gerd House-Museum has been a branch of the Vavozh District Local History Museum, presenting the life and work of the first Udmurt scholar-ethnographer. In Kuzebay Gerd's homeland folk and ethnic events and seminars are held, and visitors are received in Russian and Udmurt. Also offered are play activities, master classes in making protective amulets, and meetings with the folk ensemble "Zhilyrtis oshmes". The museum receives about 3,000 visitors annually from the Udmurt Republic, as well as from the Finno-Ugric republics of Russia and from abroad.
