About museum

House-Museum of Merchant Life is a private museum that opened to visitors in 2020. The museum's founder is Mikhail Tutarinov, who is passionate about antiques. It all began with his antique shop on Teatralny Lane. Over time the number of items grew and the idea to open a private museum emerged. All the objects were bought by Mikhail over seven years from residents of Astrakhan.
Here you will not only feel the atmosphere of times gone by, but you can also touch them. Yes — you read that right: you can touch absolutely any item in the museum and take a small journey back to those distant times!
The museum is located at 44 Sverdlova Street, in the Chasovnikovs' estate.
The merchant Pavel Semyonovich Chasovnikov lived at this address from 1886, and from 1887 his son Mikhail Pavlovich Chasovnikov lived there. M.P. Chasovnikov was the city mayor and a major philanthropist — he donated one of his houses to serve as a children's hospital.
