I. S. Nikitin House Museum
About museum
The house-museum of Ivan Savvich Nikitin is an eternal monument to the outstanding 19th-century poet. It is the only surviving building from the coaching inn complex, built in 1846. The museum was opened on October 4, 1924 and since 1994 has been a structural subdivision of the Nikitin Museum. On the museum grounds there is a granite monument to the poet, as well as a reconstructed carriage shed with an installation of a sleigh, a cart and household items. The house-museum's rooms display original items, documents and photographs, the poet's books, and paintings by artists inspired by his works. The museum hosts literary exhibitions dedicated to the life and work of Nikitin and to notable Russian figures who took part in the cultural life of Voronezh in the 19th century. Visitors to the museum can obtain detailed information about this era and the poet.
