N. N. Khokhryakov House-Museum
About museum
On June 12, 1998, the N. N. Khokhryakov House-Museum was opened to visitors; since 2008 it has been a museum-estate. Nikolai Nikolaevich Khokhryakov (1857-1928) was one of the first pupils of I. I. Shishkin and devoted more than 20 years to serving the museum. The collections of the Vyatsky Art Museum contain his paintings, drawings, travel albums and landscapes that convey the understated beauty of the Vyatka countryside. The house-museum has regional significance and is an enfilade-style building from the first half of the 19th century. The permanent exhibition includes paintings, graphic works, photographs and memorial items. The estate features a rotunda gazebo built in 2008. December 19 is observed as the day of remembrance of N. N. Khokhryakov, when people who love his work gather at the museum. Guided tours, master classes, creative meetings, musical evenings and exhibitions are held here, and the Museum Center for Creative Development operates on the premises.
