House Museum of Coinage
About museum
A unique museum, the USSR Coinage House, has opened in Gelendzhik.
The exposition of a relatively small but incredibly cozy space features more than 1,000 exhibits, most of which are embossed panels from the 70s and 80s of the 20th century.
All of them once decorated the walls of the most ordinary Soviet apartments and houses.
In addition to paintings made in the technique of artistic metal stamping, here you can find a collection of samovars, gramophones, radios, sewing machines, wind-up watches, photographs, postcards and other objects of Soviet everyday life.
When you get here, it's like you're plunging into a past era, and the nostalgic notes are off the charts!
The founders of the museum are sisters Natalia and Elena. More than five years ago, the first coinage appeared on the wall of their house. The hobby turned out to be serious, and soon there were no empty walls for the exhibits. And friends and acquaintances began asking to visit to view the collection. That's how the idea to open a museum was born.
The space really turned out to be unique: the goal of women is to save cultural heritage by preserving artifacts of a bygone era.
The hostess conducts the tour personally. Here you can learn the history of the appearance of coinage in the USSR, hear about the technological features of creating metal panels, and also get acquainted with the myths, legends and stories that inspired coiners throughout the Soviet Union when creating their works.
