House of Leonid Andreyev
About museum
Visiting this museum will allow you to experience the world of Leonid Andreyev and become acquainted with his works. In the city of Oryol on Pushkarnaya Street stands the Andreyev family house, which now houses the Leonid Andreyev Museum. At house No. 41 the future writer spent his childhood and youth. He explored attics and cellars, dreamed of travel, read books, and staged plays for his peers. His mother, Anastasia Nikolaevna, taught her son to imagine, make his first drawings, and encouraged his creative pursuits. The museum presents materials on Andreyev's literary work, as well as his works as an artist and photographer. The exhibition recreates the atmosphere of Oryol at the end of the 19th century and helps visitors understand Leonid Andreyev's talent. In three rooms the interior of a house from the 1870s–1880s is reconstructed based on descriptions from Andreyev's works. Visiting the museum will allow you to connect with Leonid Andreyev's world and learn about his work.
