Peasant Household, Manyuki village
About museum
Today there are fewer and fewer elderly people who are true experts and keepers of the past, its traditions and rituals. Therefore the staff of the Manyuki House of Culture decided to establish a peasant household museum. This required a major cleaning, as well as pieces of furniture, decorations and embroidery. Gradually the house began to take shape and to provide enough material for conducting excursions. On the basis of the Manyuki House of Culture, a peasant household was opened to promote folk traditions and rituals. It provides an opportunity to broaden access to cultural values and allows visitors to learn how people lived in the village, how they arranged their homes, what occupations they had, and how they prepared food. Tourists are also invited to participate in household tasks. Over the past year, about 1,000 people have visited this tourist site. Children take excursions into the past, while adults recall their youth over tea and feel nostalgic. Small gatherings can also be held here on request.
