Dmitrievsky Local History Museum named after A.F. Vangenheim
About museum
In 1919 the local intelligentsia, led by Alexey Feodosyevich Vangenheim, founded the Dmitrievsky Local History Museum. Exhibits were gathered by museum staff and also donated by visitors and the investigative commission. During the German occupation the museum was completely destroyed, and its exhibits were looted and burned. In 1946 the museum was restored under the leadership of Mikhail Maksimovich Gorbovtsev. Today the museum's collections comprise more than 25,000 items, and the permanent exhibition occupies 6 halls. In the spacious exhibition hall visitors can view new collections.
