Debesy District Museum of the History of the Siberian Route
About museum
On November 29, 1989, the Debesy District Council of People's Deputies of the Udmurt ASSR adopted decision No. 38-256 to establish a museum complex in the village of Debesy. Today it houses the Museum of the History of the Siberian Route, which is a monument of regional significance. It is located in a building constructed in 1822, which originally served as barracks for the lower ranks of the Great Siberian Route. The museum presents three exhibitions: "The Tsar's Road", "Forest Encounters", "The Village Where the Demons No Longer Live", dedicated to the history of the Siberian Route, its role in Russian life, the ancestors of the Udmurts, and the history of the village of Debesy. The museum's collections hold items reflecting the ethnography and everyday life of the Udmurts. Visiting the museum provides an understanding of the history of this region.
