Churapchinsky Museum of History and Ethnography named after A.A. Savvin
About museum
On March 11, 1948, a decision was made to establish a district museum based on the school's local history museum. A well-known local historian and ethnographer, A. A. Savvin (1896–1951), was appointed director. Funds were allocated for the acquisition and relocation of the old building and for purchasing exhibits. In addition, at A. A. Savvin's request, the local population voluntarily donated items to the museum's collection: antiques, household items, tools and hunting implements. In 1950 the most valuable exhibits were acquired. A. A. Savvin carried out collecting, exhibition, collection-management and educational work among the population. Currently the museum is located in a two-story stone building constructed in 2008. Various exhibitions and tours are offered here, as well as a permanent exhibition that has been operating since March 2015 after major renovations. The museum's main collection consists of 6,046 storage units, of which 1,089 museum objects are in the permanent exhibition and 624 are in thematic exhibitions.
