Stalingrad Bunker, Volgograd
About museum
The 'Stalingrad Bunker' exhibition is located in the shelter of the Voroshilovsky District House of Culture (the former Tram Drivers' Club of the M.V. Frunze tram depot). The composition was created in memory of the steadfastness and courage of Soviet soldiers and home-front workers, and of workers in Stalingrad's transport sector during the Great Patriotic War.
The main idea of the exhibition is the preservation of historical memory. As part of patriotic education, tours are conducted for preschool and school-age children, students, and veterans. During the tour, emphasis is placed on the connection between the heroic deeds of soldiers and officers during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and the heroism of our servicemen in the area of the special military operation (SMO).
The 'Stalingrad Bunker' houses exhibits from the Great Patriotic War (weapon replicas (inert training models, MMG), uniforms, household items), a reconstruction of the city's post-war domestic environment, and items from the SMO zone. Visitors are given the opportunity to literally touch the objects, witnesses of historical events.
While learning about the bomb shelter's construction, visitors can try pumping air into the room themselves using the manual ventilation system. Guests of the exhibition can also descend into an underground passage that leads to a safe area.
Self-guided visits are not provided (due to exhibits being in open access and the need to ensure compliance with safety regulations; visits to the exhibition are only possible when accompanied by a guide).
Visits are by appointment only.
Tours can be arranged if booked at least one day before the intended date and time. For questions regarding the organization of guided services, please contact the director of MUK 'Children's City Park' of Volgograd.
