Borsky Local History Museum
About museum
As early as the first years of Soviet rule, the idea of creating a museum in the village of Borskoye was proposed; however, it lasted only until 1921. Part of the exhibits was transferred to the Buzuluk Uyezd Historical and Local Lore Museum, while others remained in the local history corner of Borskaya Secondary School. In 1953 all the exhibits were destroyed by fire. As a result of the district local-history conference held on January 6, 1961, a decision was made to create a people's historical and local-history museum. A Museum Council was formed and the first director was elected. The museum was based on the collection of Borskaya Secondary School No. 1. The Council asked all district residents to participate in collecting historical documents and exhibits. Many people of different professions and ages contributed to this effort. In 1976 the museum received the title "People's", and in 1980 it was granted republican significance. It has 6 halls and a folklore area displaying works by local artists and folk craftsmen. Exhibitions are updated every 3 months. The main collection comprises 14,340 items.
