Borisoglebsky Historical and Art Museum
About museum
The Borisoglebsky Museum began its history in 1913, when it was established as a city museum of visual aids. In 1929 it was transformed into a local history museum, and in 2001 it received the status of a historical and art museum with the opening of the P. I. Sholokhov Art Gallery. In 2013 the museum celebrated its 100th anniversary. During this period the administration of the Borisoglebsky urban district decided to relocate the museum to a two-story mansion from the late 19th century that had belonged to the renowned pharmacist R. K. Veis. At the end of 2015 the first exhibition in the new museum building, "Siberian Corridor", was opened, dedicated to the first "Decembrists' Exhibition" in Russia's history and to its organizer — Prince S. M. Volkonsky. The museum also runs educational programs "The World of the Russian Estate" and "City, History, People", a film-lecture hall and a temporary exhibition hall.
